Seaplane vs Speedboat vs Ferry in the Maldives
Speedboats suit nearby atolls. Seaplanes reach distant resorts by day. Public ferries are cheapest and slowest.

Use a speedboat when the island is within a few hours of Velana airport or Malé, a seaplane when the resort is far and you are traveling in daylight, and a public ferry when you are on a local-island route and can spare half a day or more. Seaplanes do not fly at night. Ferries do not serve private resort islands.
